How to Canvass Suppliers Without Getting Burned

June 25, 2026 · 5 min read

Get everything in one format

Most quotations arrive as screenshots in a Messenger thread. Copy each one into the same structure — supplier, package price, what is included, what is extra, payment terms — so you're comparing packages, not personalities.

Price the exclusions

The cheap photo package with 6 hours of coverage plus ₱3,000 per hour overtime is not cheap for a 10-hour wedding day. Always add the realistic exclusions — overtime, extra pax, corkage, transport out of town, generator, additional units — before ranking quotes.

Check that the business exists offline

Ask for a signed contract with a business address and a receipt for the deposit. Look for recent tagged photos from real weddings, not just a curated grid. If a supplier will only accept GCash and refuses a contract, walk away.

Deposit discipline

Standard is 20–50% to hold the date, with the balance staged before the event. Never pay in full up front, and keep every receipt in one folder — you will need it if the coordinator changes.
